Hemorrhoids are swollen veins found in the lower rectum and anus. Painful hemorrhoids arise as a result of swelling of weakened vessel walls due to exertion or increased pressure on the areas during bowel movements or other physical activities. Hemorrhoids are of two types depending on their location within the rectum-anal region.
Internal hemorrhoid inflammation are usually inflamed vessels that fill the inner walls of the rectum, while external hemorrhoids are those outside the anus. Inflamed external hemorrhoids are very painful. Internal hemorrhoids found inside the rectum are generally painless and you will only know of their presence when the stool is stained with bright red blood. However, internal hemorrhoids can protrude from the anus and therefore become very painful. These are called prolapsed hemorrhoids. To treat these painful hemorrhoids, you can make use of home remedies that are very effective. These include the following:
- Make sure you practice good eating habits. This means that you must have a balanced diet that consists of fibers found in fruits and vegetables. The fibers will make stool produce steadily and therefore minimize straining during bowel movements. It should be noted that straining during a bowel movement will put pressure on the hemorrhoids, resulting in painful, bursting hemorrhoids.
- Stool softeners can be used if despite eating fiber, you still have constipation. It can help to some extent, but if you have hemorrhoids, inflammation and infection can develop.
- You can treat hemorrhoids by using a sitz bath where you sit in a few inches of warm water at least three times a day for about fifteen minutes to decrease inflammation.
- It is also recommended to consume a 1000 mg vitamin C tablet per day. This will strengthen the vein walls in the long run. The preparation should also contain hesperidin and rutin and bioflavoids, as these ingredients will help shrink hemorrhoids. Many of my clients have found vitamin C to be very effective. Adding a 1000 mg Omega 3 capsule to the supplement will reduce inflammation, while taking a daily multivitamin and mineral tablet will ensure consistent bowel movements and nourish the cells of the digestive system.
At the end of the day, the use of these home remedies will eventually result in the disappearance of the painful hemorrhoids.
