The Odisha government has extended the lockdown till 30 April. On the other hand, the central government is brainstorming whether to push the lockdown forward. The decision of the Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik suggests that the central government will do the same. Because in the video conferencing of leaders of all political parties with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, most parties have agreed to increase the lockdown.

In a video statement released on Thursday, Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik announced to increase the lockdown, saying that during this time he has received a lot of public support. In Odisha, 42 cases of infection with this virus have been reported and one person has died.

Patnaik made the announcement after the state cabinet meeting. Patnaik said that he urges the central government to extend the nationwide lockdown till April 30. Patnaik also appealed to the Center not to start airlines and railway services by April 30. Educational institutions in Odisha have been closed till 17 June.

The Prime Minister Narendra Modi said during videoconferencing that it would not be possible to open the lockdown on 14 April as cases of coronavirus infection have increased rapidly in the past. The Prime Minister said that he would also hold talks with the Chief Ministers about this on 11 April. He said that the life before and after the corona would not be the same.

Patnaik said, “During this period, this number has increased from 3000 to four lakhs in Super America. There have been many deaths from Kovid-19 in the US but it has not yet implemented lockdown across the country. In such a difficult time, you have to choose between economic activities and human life. In today’s cabinet meeting, it was decided that saving human life should be the first priority.

The country is currently battling the Kovid-19 outbreak. A total of 5734 cases of infection with coronavirus have been reported across the country, out of which 472 people have been cured after treatment. During this period, 166 people have died due to the epidemic. Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Delhi and Telangana have seen the most outbreaks of COVID.
